WHAT IS THE PROSTATE GLAND

The prostate gland is one of the organs of the male reproductive system located just below the bladder and surrounding the initial part of the urethra.

Its main function is the production of prostatic fluid, in which spermatozoa are transported and enriched with nutrients.

WHAT IS BENNIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA

The size of a normal prostate in a 30-year-old man corresponds to the size of a 20-20 gr chestnut. As the age increases, the prostate in some men begins to swell, as a result of which the adenoma compresses the urethra and thus prevents the free flow of urine.

SURGICAL SOLUTIONS

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is surgically treated with:

  • Open prostatectomy with incision
  • Transurethral prostatectomy, without incision, performed through a special endoscope through the urethra with unipolar or bipolar diathermy
  • Laser excision
  • Resection with the TURIS method

TURIS PROTECTED

A special tool with an optical camera is inserted through the urethra into the prostatic urethra and a sublimation electrode is inserted with a special mechanism into the prostate.

All the image is checked via high definition camera by the Urologist Surgeon.

Using saline, the electrical energy is converted into plasma with the end result being a highly ionized gas containing free charge carriers of ions and electrons with the end result being sublimation of the tissue.< /span>

TURIS plasma sublimation is the most innovative therapeutic surgical method for benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Simultaneous coagulation of surface excision means that the sublimation electrode leaves smooth surfaces and allows virtually bloodless tissue excision to be performed.

With the new generation TURIS 2 machine, which we have the opportunity and possibility to have in our region, the speed of excision and sublimation is optimal for the operation.

At the end of the operation, a catheter is placed through which saline washes are applied. The catheter is usually removed within the next 2-3 days of surgery.

Post-operatively, all patients receive special instructions along with the discharge they receive, to take an antibiotic, to be well hydrated and to avoid physical fatigue for 1-2 weeks.

Within 3 weeks the patient acquires a fluent urination which, as they typically report, reminds them of their youth.
