ANASSA, faithful to its commitment to quality health care services, proceeded to upgrade the Artificial Kidney Unit, by expanding it to new, even more modern facilities, in a specially designed area of the clinic.

The new facilities have technological equipment with new generation machines, while special attention has been paid to the particularly spacious, functional and bright areas of the Unit. The aim is for patients to have the opportunity to carry out blood transfusions in a comfortable and friendly environment, under the constant supervision of specialized nephrologists and pathologists, while there is daily cooperation with vascular surgeons with considerable experience and successful practice in the creation of vascular accesses (grafts, fistula, central venous catheters).

There is constant cooperation between the Department and physicians of all specialties (cardiologists, pulmonologists, orthopedists, neurologists, etc.) for the timely treatment of disease-related problems, as well as a team of well-trained nurses.

In addition, the overall structure of the ANASSA Clinic with the most modern equipment available, supports the Artificial Kidney Unit for any need that may arise, even for emergencies that may arise, providing: Ahematology / Biochemistry Laboratory, Imaging Department with 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner, latest generation 128-slice, low-dose radiation CT scanner, Ultrasound, ultramodern Operating Rooms, Intensive Care Unit, all ISO certified and doctors on call 24 hours a day.

It has beds and chairs with electronic control system, individual televisions, free wi-fi and a light meal is provided to patients. There is also a waiting area for patients and their companions as well as the possibility to enter the department from an independent entrance.

The modern medical equipment of the Unit, combined with the strict infection control programs of the ANASSA Hospital Infection Control Committee and the international dialysis treatment protocols applied, guarantees patient safety.

In order to ensure the necessary hygiene conditions, the Unit has an isolated ward for patients carrying Hepatitis B, it ensures the continuous cleaning and disinfection of all areas of the unit, the machines are sterilized after each shift and all preventive measures are taken with particular strictness to avoid the SARS-COV-2 virus. Modern methods of water treatment (continuous flow reverse osmosis system) and waste management are used to reduce the environmental impact of dialysis.

New vehicles have recently been added to the unit’s fleet of vehicles for patient transport, which is free of charge for haemodialysis patients within the city of Volos.

The ANASSA Artificial Kidney Unit has a partnership with EOPYY for the coverage of the treatments provided.
