Laser technology puts an end to pain.

Hemorrhoid disease results from the congestion of hemorrhoidal vessels, causing swelling of hemorrhoidal nodules and prolapse of the rectal mucosa.

This condition seems to be aggravated by various factors, such as constipation, heredity, sedentary lifestyle, diet. In the early stages, there are no visible symptoms, while in cases of clinical signs (bleeding, mucus secretion, etc.) the patient needs a special medical diagnosis, so that he can immediately receive the appropriate treatment.

In recent years, an innovative technique called laser hemorrhoidoplasty has been adopted. This particular technique bloodlessly shrinks the hemorrhoidal nodule, using “smart” radiation, i.e. capable of distinguishing the type of tissue in which to cause changes in the first phase and then its regeneration.

After a few days, new connective tissue is created that keeps the hemorrhoidal “pads” functional and at the same time the mucosa adheres to the rest of the rectal wall, avoiding the recurrence of hemorrhoids as well as new mucosal prolapse .

The advantages of the method are:

  • Absence of painful cuts and stitches.
  • Preservation of the mucosa and the sphincter, thanks to the uniform application of the laser to the intestinal wall.
  • Short recovery, with little or no postoperative pain.

The method was first presented about seven years ago in Europe and America, while in our country it was implemented about two and a half years ago with Volos once again being a pioneer in surgery, since it was one of the first application centers, where now cases from all over Greece come in order to be dealt with.
